Shipping and Logistics Specialist

Temporary Position Lasting 6 - 8 Weeks

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 / hour

Shift: Monday - Friday, day shift | Must be flexible to start between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM daily

Job Summary: 

Primary function to assist the shipping department acting as the first point of contact for truck drivers, dealing with phone calls and emails and responding to messages. Responsible for ensuring smooth shipping process from beginning to end.

Job Responsibilities: 

• Communicating and coordinating with truck drivers and truck brokers to coordinate scheduling pickup and delivery appointments.
• Prepare and process shipping documents, tracking shipments and ensure meeting regulatory requirements.
• Keeping track of shipping orders, bills of  lading and tracking numbers and other relevant information in an organized manner.
• Coordinating with internal teams to ensure the efficient execution of shipping transactions.
• Assist the shipping manager and assistant shipping manager as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Training: 

• Excellent understanding of logistics.
• Excellent organization and time management skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
• Familiarity with plant material (trees, shrubs, perennials, etc.).
• The ability to work well under pressure and be flexible in varying situations.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with English as the primary language.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to frequently make decisions and use independent judgment, use of discretion, problem analysis, and teamwork.
• The ability to perform basic math functions as add, subtract, multiply and divide.

Experience/Education: 

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience in logistics and shipping.

Physical Requirements: 

• Frequent standing, sitting, walking and bending.
• Extensive use of computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
• Continuous talking and listening.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Working Conditions: 

• Must be able to work inside and outside in all weather conditions.
