A Scale Operator at a concrete and materials yard is responsible for weighing inbound and outbound trucks carrying aggregates, sand, gravel, asphalt, or concrete materials. This role ensures accurate weight measurements, proper documentation, and efficient traffic flow while maintaining excellent customer service and safety compliance.

?? Key Responsibilities

Operate computerized truck scale (weighbridge) system
Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks accurately
Generate weight tickets, invoices, and receipts
Verify material types and quantities
Record and maintain daily scale logs and reports
Communicate with drivers regarding load instructions and yard policies
Coordinate with dispatch, plant operators, and yard personnel
Monitor truck traffic flow for safety and efficiency
Handle customer inquiries and basic billing questions
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the scale house

?? Required Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic computer and data entry skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good communication and customer service skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Basic math skills
Knowledge of construction materials (sand, gravel, concrete) preferred
Previous scale house or administrative experience preferred

Combination of office (scale house) and outdoor yard environment
Exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions
Interaction with truck drivers and heavy equipment operators
May require early morning, weekend, or extended hours
