Buyer I

Location: Tualatin

Hourly Pay: $28-$30/hr.

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer I to join their team. This position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, supplies, and services from vendors. This role involves evaluating vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers. The ideal candidate must be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. This person will work closely with the Purchasing Supervisor to plan and accomplish goals, track purchases, monitor vendor performance, and maintain a database of vendor information.

Position Responsibilities:

• Source, contact, and select potential vendors to receive proposals for price, quality, and timeliness of delivery.
• Utilize MRP to create purchase orders up to authorized dollar limits and specifications in conformance with established procurement procedures and legal requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships and recommend current and/or new vendors.
• Convey delivery, inventory, and quality goals to vendors.
• Process Requisitions, Purchase Orders, and Change Orders.
• Update vendor files using ERP purchasing software.
• Expedite orders, working with the plant and production control, to meet production schedules.
• Support “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or other related degree. Equivalent work experience to the qualification standard will also be considered.
• Experienced buyers familiar with negotiation and program administration (VMI, Consignment, etc.).
• One - three years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• ERP/MRP experience; Microsoft Dynamics AX (DAX) experience is highly preferred. Syteline experience is a plus.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with outside resources and all levels of internal resources.
• Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook skills.

Preferred:

• Certification in Purchasing or Supply Chain from an accredited course (e.g., APM, ASCM).
