CNC Programmer – Aluminum Extrusion & Fabrication

 

About the Role

We are recruiting for a client in Washougal with a full-service aluminum extrusion machining and fabrication shop.  They are seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join the team. You'll play a critical role in translating complex designs into efficient, precise machining programs across a wide range of aluminum extrusion work — supporting everything from prototypes to high-volume production runs.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and prove out CNC programs for 5-axis machining centers, handling aluminum extrusions up to 33 feet in a single setup
• Program for extrusion sizes up to 12″ × 24″ × 53′, ensuring dimensional accuracy and process efficiency
• Collaborate with engineering and shop floor teams to support punching, bending, and sawing operations
• Select appropriate tooling, feeds, speeds, and fixturing strategies for aluminum extrusion profiles
• Troubleshoot and refine programs to minimize cycle time and scrap
• Maintain organized program libraries and revision documentation
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across machining and fabrication workflows

Qualifications

• 3+ years of CNC programming experience, preferably with aluminum extrusions or structural aluminum profiles
• Proficiency with CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar) and G-code editing
• Strong understanding of 5-axis machining strategies and toolpath optimization
• Familiarity with downstream fabrication processes (punching, bending, sawing, assembly, welding) a strong plus
• Solid blueprint reading and GD&T skills
• Ability to manage multiple programs and priorities in a fast-paced shop environment
• Detail-oriented with a focus on quality, efficiency, and repeatability
