Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing various accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Duties
- You must possess knowledge of the sales tax percentage in Texas, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
- Perform general ledger accounting and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Reconcile bank statements and perform account reconciliations, including accounts payable and receivable, to maintain precise financial records.
- Prepare journal entries and manage double-entry bookkeeping processes in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify the accuracy of financial data.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment scheduling, and collections.
- Assist with payroll processing and related tax filings to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
- Support budgeting activities by analyzing expenses and preparing financial reports for management review.
- Maintain detailed documentation of all transactions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and audit requirements.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Utilize technical accounting skills for account analysis, general ledger reconciliation, and financial report writing.
Skills
- Proven experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- I possess a robust comprehension of GAAP standards and the accounting practices of governmental or non-profit organizations.
- The candidate should possess proficiency in bank reconciliation, journal entries, account analysis, and general ledger reconciliation.
- Knowledge of debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and financial concepts essential for accurate recordkeeping.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance is highly desirable.
- The candidate should possess excellent organizational skills, pay close attention to detail, and be capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- The ability to clearly communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders is also highly desirable.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and financial report writing enhances overall effectiveness.
