Machine Operator

About the Role

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join a fast-paced frozen food production facility. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring production equipment to ensure product quality and operational efficiency. You will work closely with the shift lead to keep production running smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up all production equipment and materials approximately 1 hour before the start of each production run, including bag machines, optical sorters, X-ray and metal detectors, tape machines, inkjets, and other required equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance throughout each shift; make minor adjustments as needed and report all repair requests directly to maintenance personnel.
  • Perform quality checks including metal detector verification, bag weight checks, label verification, and finished product quality grading.
  • Ensure all bags are properly sealed and in a sellable condition coming off the production line.
  • Immediately escalate any quality concerns or equipment issues to the shift lead or operations supervisor.
  • Operate forklifts and other vehicles to safely move and position production equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment and follow all safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Forklift certification required (or ability to obtain).
  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with operating software.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to identify problems and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic production environment.
  • Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or irregular shifts, especially during peak processing season.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a production/cold storage environment.
  • Capable of operating forklifts and other material-handling vehicles.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and moving equipment.
