Express Employment Professionals is recruiting on behalf of a well-established industrial manufacturing company in Abbotsford, BC. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to play a key role in supporting the finance team and ensuring accurate, timely, and meaningful financial reporting.
This leadership-focused role is ideal for a CPA or an experienced accounting professional who excels in general accounting, financial reporting, and team collaboration. The Senior Accountant will manage month-end close processes, prepare financial statements, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide guidance to accounting staff—all while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Financial Leadership & Month-End Close
- Lead month-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and ledger maintenance
Reporting & Analysis
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
- Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with actionable insights
Transactions & Compliance
- Process complex financial transactions, including inventory costing, payroll, and payables
- Prepare and reconcile statutory remittances (GST, PST, WCB, EHT)
- Review and approve employee expense reports and ensure policy compliance
Team Support & Collaboration
- Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information
- Assist auditors during reviews and year-end audits, preparing required documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls
- Prepare and review financial statements for accuracy and completeness
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal controls
Experience:
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role within public accounting firms or corporate finance departments.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, and governmental or non-profit accounting standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in cash management, account reconciliation, and financial report writing.
- Strong understanding of double entry bookkeeping principles and debits & credits management.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or equivalent platforms.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements for non-profit organizations or government agencies is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or related field
- CPA designation or actively pursuing completion
- 3–5 years progressive accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or industrial sectors
- Strong knowledge of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Comfortable with ERP systems (Dynamics NAV 365, ADP, or similar) and Power BI is an asset
- Advanced Excel and MS Office skills
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
