We are recruiting on behalf of our client, a well-established and reputable organization in the building products and services industry, for an experienced Junior Accountant to join their Western Canada head office team based in Abbotsford, BC.

Position Overview
The Junior Accountant supports day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end reporting. All responsibilities are performed in accordance with internal accounting standards, internal control policies, GAAP, and IFRS.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-end reporting including financial statements, bank reconciliations, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and adjusting entries
- Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting working papers
- Support fixed asset tracking, depreciation, and amortization schedules
- Ensure proper application of B.C. PST and GST rules
- Perform day-to-day collections by phone and email, escalate delinquent accounts as required, and assist with issue resolution
- Set up new customers and maintain master file data in accordance with company policies and internal controls
- Apply customer payments accurately in Sage 300 and maintain current accounts receivable records
- Assist with full-cycle accounts payable, from purchase order receipt to invoice entry and payment processing
- Prepare intercompany invoicing
- Respond to operational requests and collaborate with branch administrators and sales representatives
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and other duties as assigned by the Controller
Qualifications
- 2 to 4 years of experience in a full-cycle accounting role
- 1 to 2 years of accounts receivable experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting with working knowledge of GAAP
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with accounting software, Sage 300 preferred
- Understanding of internal controls and compensating controls
- Experience in construction or service-based accounting environments considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
Working Conditions
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
- Hybrid schedule available after initial training period
- Flexibility to work weekends or holidays if required
