Part time, Sales Associate
$18/HR
Primary duties:
- Performs opening and closing procedures for the cash register.
- Accurately rings up customer transactions on the register, including handling cash and
credit card transactions, with integrity and accuracy.
- Handles customer credit card and personal information professionally and confidentially. • Understands and follows policies and procedures for point-of-sale including safety,
quality standards and proper customer service protocol.
- Experienced and efficient with use of a cloud-based point-of-sale system (i.e., Thrift Cart)
used in a retail environment.
- Issues accurate receipts hold/sold tags and completes refund paperwork.
- Welcomes and assists customers and donors as they enter the store.
- Assists customers by answering questions and enhancing their shopping experience.
- Shares information with customers about organizations mission and programs.
- Answers incoming phone calls using a cloud-based system (i.e., Zoom), provides
information and screens donation inquiries. Transfers calls to other team members and
makes referrals with courtesy. Always provides courteous responses, when making
transfers to staff members, referrals to agency partners, or when declining items for
donation.
- Resolves customer complaints professionally, seeks a positive outcome; asks for
assistance when needed. • Maintains cleanliness, organization and attractiveness of the
cashier area.
- Helps organize and fill shelves and display areas to keep the store fully stocked, clean
and inspiring.
- Processes donated merchandise including cleaning, pricing, stocking, recycling and
arranging.
- Helps maintain cleanliness and safety of sales floor, bathrooms, windows, shelves and
displays.
- Coordinates with organization’s team members, (i.e., sales associates, donation
ambassadors, shift supervisors) to lift and move furniture, building materials and
hardware in a safe and smart manner, mindfully asking for help where needed. Asks for
assistance to move larger or heavier items.
- Addresses potential hazards to staff, customers and donors in an expedient manner.
- Shows a commitment to promoting our Habitat safety culture and compliance with
policies.
- Has the ability to work and communicate effectively with people from diverse
backgrounds.
- Attends staff meetings and training sessions on safety and customer service
- Communicates status of pickups to customers, dispatcher, warehouse supervisor as
needed to ensure great customer service.
- Must be professional in appearance and a good ambassador of the organization’s brand,
dressing neatly in a organization’s shirt, hat or other provided outerwear or gear.
- Demonstrates an ability to arrive at work promptly and adhere to a schedule.
- Communicates clearly and professionally with managers, supervisors, drivers, sales staff
and customers, with a commitment to being part of our team.
- Demonstrate problem-solving skills and an ability to work under pressure.
- Is customer-service oriented, shows initiative, is honest, drug free, and has a “can-do”
attitude.
- All other duties as assigned.
