JOB PURPOSE

 

The Inventory Supervisor oversees all inventory management activities within the assigned area of responsibility. This position ensures accurate tracking, storage, and movement of inventory to support efficient order fulfillment for customers. The role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and expertise in managing large volumes of titles and SKUs across multiple storage and distribution zones.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily inventory operations, including inventory consolidation, conduct scheduled and ad-hoc inventory counts, and completing process audits.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP and ensure data accuracy for all book titles, ISBNs, and product variations.
  • Monitor and report on slow-moving, overstocked, or damaged inventory and recommend appropriate actions such as returns or markdowns.
  • Develop and enforce efficient inventory control procedures tailored to book handling, storage conditions, and labeling requirements.
  • Train and supervise a team of inventory analysts and coordinators in best practices for inventory management, data integrity and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the warehouse and fulfillment teams to streamline picking, packing, and shipping operations.
  • Generate and present inventory KPI’s, highlighting accuracy rates, stock discrepancies, and countermeasures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu or a degree
  • 3–5 years of experience in warehouse or inventory management, preferably in retail or wholesale distribution.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory or team lead experience.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS systems Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) as required.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse procedures and safety protocols.
  • Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing work environments.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to motivate and guide team members.

Work Environment: Warehouse setting with exposure to varying temperatures. Frequent standing, bending, and lifting throughout the shift. Use of warehouse equipment and machinery.
