ABOUT THE ROLE

This position is within a tier-one automotive manufacturing supplier specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components. The facility supports lighting and mold design, construction, production engineering, and dedicated teams in Quality, Assembly, Sales, and Customer Service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve production and/or new model development quality issues by conducting product audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading cross-functional continuous improvement activities in a timely manner.

  • Investigate internal production quality, process, and equipment issues using quality data collection and statistical analysis techniques.

  • Serve as a communication liaison between internal and external stakeholders regarding quality concerns while maintaining customer quality standards.

  • Establish, maintain, and track quality standards to ensure consistency in production.

  • Prepare PQCTs using FMEA and GPAC-V to ensure potential failure modes are properly documented and addressed.

  • Participate in process audits to address mold modifications, process changes, deviations from quality standards, and quality system compliance.

  • Address customer and internal product concerns through documented problem tracking and monthly performance reporting.

  • Analyze monthly performance reports and process data to identify improvement opportunities and implement action plans.

  • Coordinate packaging trials to ensure compliance with quality standards.

  • Train and mentor new engineers in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

  • Support additional responsibilities as business needs arise.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering

  • 3–6 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Engineer III: 4–7 years)

  • Experience in quality functions within the automotive supplier industry preferred

  • Experience in a Just-in-Time (JIT) manufacturing environment preferred

  • Working knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, PQCT, capability studies, and GD&T

  • Plastic injection molding and process improvement experience highly desirable

  • Knowledge of ISO 9000 and AIAG standards


WORK CONDITIONS

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

  • Approximately 4 hours per day in an office environment

  • Approximately 4 hours per day in a manufacturing environment

  • Occasional overnight travel may be required

  • Overtime (planned or unplanned) may be required to meet customer deadlines

  • Chemicals, noise, and heat

  • Moving or mechanical parts

  • Moderate noise levels (hearing protection required in designated areas)
