Job Summary:  

This position is responsible for programming, set up and operation of a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, all work must be done thinking “Safety First.”
  • Studies sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products and to determine product dimensions and tolerances.
  • Calculates dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers, gauges, calipers.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and operates all of the basic machine tools and many specialized tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
  • Aligns and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machine.
  • Monitors speed and feed of machines during machining process.
  • Selects the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in the preparation of the machining operations.
  • Observes and listens to operating machines and equipment in order to determine need for adjustments or repair.
  • Checks work pieces to ensure they are properly lubricated and cooled.
  • Performs periodic adjustment and preventative maintenance of machine tool equipment.
  • Confers with engineering, supervisory and manufacturing personnel in order to exchange technical information.
  • Confers with CNC programmer to ensure that new programs or machinery will function properly and that output will meet specifications.
  • Fits and assembles parts to make or repair machine tools.
  • Recommends changes or modifications for improved efficiency.
  • Designs fixtures, tooling and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
  • For all on -site positions, must show up to work to perform job duties.
  • If ever working remote or hybrid model (from home, or offsite location), must be able to travel to LWS office when requested if any company needs arise.

  • Able to lift up to 40 pounds and 41+ pounds as a two-person lift.

Education and Experience:

  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
