Warehouse Manager
Located in Butte, MT
Salary: $75,000-$95,000 / Year
About the Opportunity
This is a rare chance to step into a Warehouse Manager role with a growing branch that operates with the energy of a startup and the stability of an established organization. The Montana location is expanding quickly, and we are looking for someone who wants to build, lead, and shape a high performing warehouse operation from the ground up.
Position Overview
This is not a traditional warehouse job. This role requires someone who thrives in a fast paced environment, takes ownership, and is excited to help build a branch that is still in its early growth phase. You will manage daily warehouse operations, support sales activities during the startup period, and help create a professional, customer ready environment every day.
The warehouse is the backbone of the branch. Our sales team is out winning business, and they rely on a warehouse operation that delivers accuracy, speed, and exceptional service. You will ensure products are handled correctly, orders are fulfilled with precision, and the facility is maintained to a high standard.
Because this branch is still scaling, warehouse volume will not fill a full day for the next 12 to 18 months. During this period, you will also support order entry, quality checks, freight coordination, display building, and sample delivery. As volume increases, the role will shift to primarily warehouse operations and team leadership.
This is a hands on role for someone who wants to build something meaningful, not simply maintain what already exists.
What You Will Do
Warehouse Operations
Lead all daily warehouse functions including receiving, put away, inventory control, order picking, staging, shipping coordination, and maintaining a clean, organized, customer ready facility. Handle products that require two person lifting and follow all safety protocols. Ensure accuracy, efficiency, and a professional environment at all times.
Driving and Delivery Support
A CDL is strongly preferred. If you do not have one, you must be willing to obtain it within 60 days with company sponsored training. The branch requires at least two CDL capable team members to ensure coverage for deliveries, special routes, and customer needs.
Sales Support During Startup Phase
Until warehouse volume grows, you will assist with order entry, QA checks, freight quotes, display setup, and sample delivery. These tasks ensure your time is used productively and help the branch grow. As volume increases, these responsibilities will transition to other team members.
Team Building
As the branch expands, you will supervise the Warehouse Associate and future warehouse hires. You should demonstrate leadership qualities including clear communication, initiative, accountability, and the ability to develop others.
What We Are Looking For
Experience
Two or more years of warehouse operations experience, ideally in building materials, flooring, distribution, or a similar industry. You understand how a warehouse should run and you are comfortable doing the physical work.
CDL
Preferred on day one. If not currently held, you must be committed to obtaining it within 60 days with full support.
Computer Skills
Comfortable with order entry systems, basic ERP navigation, Microsoft Office, and professional email communication. You do not need to be a tech expert, but you must be competent and willing to learn.
Growth Mindset
You see a startup environment as an opportunity. You understand that your responsibilities will evolve as the branch grows and you are energized by variety and change.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 75 pounds, operate a forklift, and work in a warehouse environment daily. Two person lifting is required for certain products.
Communication Skills
Clear, professional communication with customers, vendors, and teammates. You ask questions when needed and proactively share information.
The Startup Mindset
This branch is not a place where you clock in and follow a script. You will face new challenges, unexpected tasks, and opportunities to solve problems every day. We need someone who works toward solutions, not excuses.
You get the excitement and ownership of a startup environment backed by a long established company with strong systems, vendor relationships, and operational support. The Montana branch is a major growth investment, and the people who help build it now will shape what it becomes.
Reporting Structure
This role reports to the Director of Warehousing and Logistics and works closely with the Montana Branch Sales Manager, along with support from operations leadership across the network.
