Batch Operator – Food Manufacturing

Location: Back of the Yards, Chicago Pay: $18.50 per hour Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM Schedule: Sunday – Thursday

Overview

We are seeking a dependable Batch Operator to support daily food-production operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for accurately preparing and mixing ingredients, operating processing equipment, and maintaining strict food-safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to batch sheets and formulas.

• Operate kettles, mixers, blenders, pumps, and automated batching systems (AKILLA or similar).

• Monitor temperatures, mixing speeds, and processing times to ensure consistent product quality.

• Document ingredient usage, lot numbers, and batch data for QA and traceability.

• Follow GMPs, HACCP, allergen control, and sanitation procedures at all times.

• Inspect raw materials before use and report any quality concerns.

• Coordinate with production, QA, and warehouse teams to maintain workflow.

• Perform basic troubleshooting and report equipment issues to maintenance.

• Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas per sanitation guidelines.

• Maintain a safe work environment and follow all PPE and safety rules.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in food manufacturing, batching, or mixing preferred.

• Ability to read and follow batch sheets, SOPs, and production instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for the duration of the shift.

• Familiarity with GMPs and food-safety standards is a plus.

• Basic math and documentation skills required.
