As a Gas Dock Attendant in the Grove and Grand Lake area, the role is a mix of customer service, environmental safety, and physical labor. Since the regional economy relies heavily on tourism, this position is the "face" of the marina.

Here are the primary job duties typically required for this role:

⚓ Fueling & Vessel Handling

• Safe Fueling: Operating fuel pumps and ensuring no spills occur in the water. This includes monitoring tank levels and handling shut-off valves.

• Docking Assistance: Catching lines and securing various types of watercraft (pontoons, speedboats, personal watercraft) as they approach the dock.

• Line Handling: Assisting boaters with tying off using proper knots (cleat hitches) and pushing off safely when they depart.

🧹 Maintenance & Safety

• Environmental Compliance: Monitoring for fuel leaks and using "oil-only" absorbent pads to clean up any surface sheen immediately.

• Dock Upkeep: Keeping the walkway clear of trip hazards, sweeping the dock, and emptying trash receptacles.

• Retail/Ship Store Support: Restocking ice chests, coolers, and bait, and ensuring life jackets or rental gear are organized.

💰 Customer Service & Sales

• Point of Sale (POS): Processing payments for fuel, snacks, and lake permits.

• Local Navigation: Providing "lake intel"—giving directions to nearby coves, restaurants, or reporting current water conditions/hazards to boaters.

• Rental Orientations: If the marina rents boats, you may be responsible for explaining safety rules and basic operation to customers.

🚧 Requirements & Environment

• Physical Stamina: The ability to stand for long shifts, often in high heat and humidity, and the strength to pull in heavy vessels.

• Safety Mindset: Strict adherence to "No Smoking" and "Engine Off" rules on the gas dock.

• Swimming Ability: While not always a formal requirement, most marinas prefer staff who are comfortable and capable in the water in case of an emergency.
