In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating advanced CNC machines, specifically Swiss-style lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components. Your expertise will ensure that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Duties

• Set up CNC machines, including Swiss lathes and milling centers, ensuring proper tooling, fixtures, and workpieces are correctly installed for each job
• Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to optimize machining processes
• Read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to ensure precise manufacturing
• Operate CNC equipment such as Fanuc-controlled machines with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
• Use precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify part dimensions
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC machinery to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance
• Utilize hand tools and power tools for tooling changes, adjustments, and minor repairs as needed
• Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow, reduce waste, and enhance productivity
• Assist in the setup and operation of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes when required
• Support assembly operations by ensuring machined parts meet quality standards for final product integration

Skills

• Strong mechanical knowledge with a solid understanding of machining principles and manufacturing processes
• Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CAM software like SolidWorks or CAD systems is highly desirable
• Expertise in reading blueprints with GD&T annotations to ensure precise tolerances are met
• Experience operating CNC lathe machines, especially Swiss-style mills with Fanuc controls
• Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) techniques for complex part fabrication
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) effectively
• Familiarity with tooling setup, selection, and maintenance for various machining operations
• Mechanical aptitude combined with basic math skills necessary for accurate measurements and calculations
• Experience working in manufacturing environments involving plastics injection molding or welding is a plus
• Ability to operate forklifts safely when moving raw materials or finished parts around the shop floor
• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality assurance throughout the machining process
