Our client is an advanced manufacturing company in White City and we're looking for a buyer to add to their growing team.  We are looking for a level II but will consider senior buyers as well.   

Job Summary:  

Mid-level buyer who owns commodity-level planning, understands MRP principles, Kanban/Lean, and basic forecasting. Presents purchasing plans and works with suppliers; develops a solid understanding of assigned commodities.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Follow all safety rules and regulations, all work must be done thinking “Safety First”.
  • For all on -site positions, must show up to work to perform job duties.
  • Translate forecast into supply plans; review demand and safety stock rationale.
  • Present purchasing plans and risk/mitigation to leadership.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews with guidance; align recovery plans.
  • Improve inventory health: turns, slow/excess mitigation, and parameters.
  • Collaborate with Engineering/Operations/Finance on changes impacting supply.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Get along with others, not creating a hostile work environment.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Standard business hours with flexibility for cross-time zone supplier calls.
  • Ability to work with and as a Team.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds and 41+ pounds as a two-person lift.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, related software and computers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • 2–4 years purchasing/planning in manufacturing.
  • Understanding of MRP logic (lot-sizing, time-phasing, exceptions).
  • Working knowledge of Kanban and Lean principles.
  • Comfort presenting plans; strong cross-functional collaboration.
  • Basic forecasting methods; capacity awareness preferred.
  • Should-cost basics (materials/labor/overhead); TCO awareness preferred.
  • Trade compliance basics; Incoterms impact on total landed cost preferred.
  • ERP/MRP (Expandable or similar)
  • Microsoft Excel (XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, PivotTables)
  • Teams/Outlook/SharePoint
  • Basic DOMO or data visualization exposure
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers, managers, and personnel from various departments.
  • Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully, identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience and/or in related field.
