Job Summary

The Bobbin Winder operates machines to wind raw fiber onto bobbins that meet quality and inventory standards for use in the braid room. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, production accuracy, and a commitment to safety. Progression is based on demonstrated skill performance, not tenure.

Core Responsibilities

• Operate bobbin winding machines and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Ensure accurate inventory tracking.
• Wind fiber to meet specific denier and tension standards.
• Inspect and verify bobbin quality to meet monthly defect limits.
• Perform multiple machine type setup and adjustments per fiber and product type.
• Clean machines and ensure work areas remain free of debris.
• Complete all required labels, forms, and transactions with minimal errors.
• Meet productivity KPIs.
• Support other bobbin processing tasks and cross-train as needed.
• Identify and report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
• Other duties as needed by the department.

• Attention to Detail: Detect fiber inconsistencies, ensure defect limits are within tolerance, and verify label accuracy.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Adjust machines for fiber types, troubleshoot bobbin quality issues, and complete cleanings as scheduled.
• Inventory Accuracy: Enter transactions correctly.
• Productivity: Meet or exceed shift goals for process and quality standards.
• Process Adherence: Follow SOPs without deviation and participate in improvement discussions.
• Training & Peer Support: Assist and train operators with setup and machine operation as requested.
• Safety Awareness: Apply safety policies consistently and complete monthly safety tasks.
• Reliability: Operate independently and communicate proactively with the Lead or Supervisor.

Physical & Environmental Conditions

•    Stand and walk for most of an 8-hour shift.
  • Use hands and fingers for threading and machine setup.
  • Regular lifting, pushing, or pulling of up to 30 lbs.
  • Use visual acuity for fiber inspection and inventory verification.
  • Work around noise and fiber materials; use PPE as required.

Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
