ABOUT THE ROLE:

This position is with a full-service, tier-one automotive supplier specializing in the design and production of lighting equipment, accessories, and electronic components. The facility includes lighting and mold design, construction, production engineering, and dedicated teams in Quality, Assembly, Sales, and Customer Service.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

Ensuring smooth operations and maintaining optimal machine integrity by:

  • Independently identifying equipment issues and taking necessary action with minimal guidance

  • Performing preventative maintenance tasks

  • Documenting work activity in Maximo reporting software

  • Following all departmental policies and procedures

  • Working with vendors/contractors for quoting and ordering parts while ensuring quality outcomes

  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement to reduce downtime and improve maintenance efficiency

  • Assisting senior technicians with assigned project work

  • Supporting junior technicians with skill development and troubleshooting

  • Accurately signing out materials on work orders

  • Attending required training sessions (onsite or offsite)

  • Maintaining maintenance areas according to standards

  • Initiating deviations when required

  • Participating in continuous improvement activities (downtime reduction, reject reduction, etc.)

  • Assisting Engineering with special projects

  • Identifying, scheduling, and managing minor improvements and group activities

  • Addressing quality-related issues and collaborating with other departments on solutions

  • Performing root cause analysis and identifying countermeasures

  • Organizing and leading improvement teams

  • Acting as a liaison between departments

  • Supporting manufacturing through troubleshooting and process improvement ideas

  • Managing manufacturing downtime and implementing corrective actions

  • Writing PLC ladder logic programs and using departmental software (vision systems, scanners, etc.)

HOW YOU WILL QUALIFY:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Molding Technician in a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to identify and repair complex technical problems in molding equipment

  • Ability to create new setups on most machines with little or no supervision

  • Demonstrated knowledge of departmental procedures and equipment processes

  • Electrical and mechanical knowledge

  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic prints/schematics

  • Strong understanding of injection molding principles

  • Experience rebuilding electrical and hydraulic equipment

  • Proficiency using a variety of tools

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

  • General office environment approximately 1 hour per day

  • Manufacturing environment approximately 7 hours per day

  • Overnight travel may be required for training

  • Overtime (planned and unplanned) may be required to meet deadlines

  • Frequent exposure to moving/mechanical parts

  • Moderate noise levels (hearing protection required in specific areas)

  • Exposure to equipment, electric shock, conveyors, and chemicals

  • Approximately 2 hours per day bending
