Job Title: Material Handler
Reports to: Plant Manager (direction from Shift Supervisor)
Department: Cut-To-Length or Slitting Department, packaging stage of production line
Job Overview:
We are seeking a Material Handler with hands-on experience operating industrial overhead cranes inside a manufacturing plant. This is not a construction tower crane role. You will support steel production lines by safely staging, lifting, and moving material using plant-based crane systems and attachments.
Crane Equipment Used (Industrial Plant Environment):
- Overhead Bridge Crane (single or double girder)
- Top-running or under-running crane systems
- Gantry crane
- Jib crane
- Magnet cranes for steel handling
- C-hook or coil lifting attachments
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily inspections of overhead crane equipment before each shift
- Stage and load steel materials onto production lines using industrial crane systems
- Move scheduled materials accurately to meet daily production targets
- Package skids of steel sheets according to order specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area through daily housekeeping
- Follow all plant safety procedures at all times
Qualifications & Skills:
- Secondary school education
- Minimum 1 year of overhead crane experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Experience operating bridge, gantry, or jib cranes inside a plant setting
- Ability to read imperial and metric measuring tape
- Forklift experience is an asset
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Team-oriented with a respectful attitude
- Basic computer skills
Working Conditions:
- Indoor, climate-controlled manufacturing facility
- Standing for extended periods
- Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Repetitive tasks
- Day shift: Monday – Friday, 6:30 AM – 2:45 PM
- $25/hr starting

- Safety: follow procedures and report hazards immediately
- Attendance: reliable and punctual
- Quality: accurate material handling and packaging, issues flagged promptly
