Tool & Die Maker

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Hours: 40 per week
Direct Hire Position 
Pay: $30.00–$40.00 per hour (depending on experience)


Position Summary

The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for building, maintaining, and repairing tools, dies, and fixtures used in punch press operations and other metal fabrication equipment. This role directly supports the Stamping Department by ensuring all dies meet production, quality, and on-time-delivery standards established by leadership.


Essential Job Functions

  • Follow all department policies, procedures, and safety guidelines while maintaining a clean and organized work area
  • Manage die preventive maintenance program, including detailed work instructions and on-schedule completion of PM activities
  • Maintain die spare parts lists and ensure required components are stocked
  • Identify and implement proactive improvements to reduce stamping defects and increase productivity
  • Troubleshoot die issues on the shop floor and minimize downtime during production
  • Collaborate with Tool Design Engineers to build new tools, fixtures, die components, and sample parts based on customer requirements
  • Perform punch press setups as needed
  • Complete additional duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to follow instructions, policies, and established procedures
  • Skilled in measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and pin gauges
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and advanced math skills
  • Proficient in operating mills, grinders, drill presses, band saws, and lathes
  • Ability to set up all types of stamping presses on the shop floor
  • Must provide own tools
  • Strong team-oriented mindset
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work effectively under pressure with competing deadlines
  • Proactive, engaged, and accountable with a positive attitude
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 5-year completed Tool Room apprenticeship or equivalent experience
  • Experience with stamping setup and draw work is a plus
