Compressor Mechanic - $18.00 to $20.00/HOUR BOE

A company in Central El Paso needs a Compressor Mechanic. The Compressor Mechanic 

installs, diagnoses, repairs, and maintains industrial air compressor systems (rotary screw, reciprocating, centrifugal) to ensure operational efficiency. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance, rebuilding pumps, troubleshooting electrical/mechanical issues, and testing systems to meet safety standards. 

Key Job Responsibilities

• Maintenance & Repair: Perform oil changes, replace air/oil filters and separator elements, check belts, and adjust pressure settings.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctions using mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical knowledge.
• Installation: start-up new air compression systems, dryers, and air piping systems.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure all machinery operates in compliance with safety regulations.  Comply with all customer safety regulations including background and drug testing if required.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of service, repairs, and inspections.
• Customer Service: Discuss issues with clients and provide technical advice for equipment, often working in field service roles. 
• Maintain clean and orderly shop, service truck and job sites.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience: Previous experience with industrial rotating machinery, hydraulics, or pneumatics.
• Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematics. Problem Solve.
• Tools: Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Physical Ability: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods.
• Certifications: Certifications from the Compressed Air and Gas Institute (CAGI) are preferred. 

Working Conditions

• Often requires traveling to customer sites.
• Work environments include factories, manufacturing plants, and service shops.
• May require flexible hours to handle emergency repairs.
