This company is a large scale manufacturer of various foam products for packing/shipping purposes. This particular department, called EPS creates a type of foam similar in texture to Styrofoam. Associates will be cross trained in multiple jobs. The primary functions include operating machinery called a Molder and Expander. The Expander is filled with bead like material poured out from 2,000lb bags and are steamed causing the beads to expand. The associate will be taught to run the machinery and then move the material to a curing room where it sits for several hours before it is moved to the molding machinery which molds the beads into large blocks that comes out 250-1000lb each on a conveyor line. Associates will monitor the blocks coming down the conveyor and will assist in printing labels with critical information such as batch number, date etc. and placing those on the blocks. There will be a quality control process using calipers on the product and visual quality control. Associates will use a forklift to move large blocks of foam to the shipping area.
