Introduction

Express Employment Professionals is hiring for three controls-focused maintenance opportunities across Brighton and Webberville supporting advanced manufacturing, CNC operations, and automation environments.

These roles are ideal for technicians with PLC, CNC controls, electrical troubleshooting, and automation experience who want to work in environments ranging from hands-on shop maintenance to national field service and advanced robotics/controls engineering.

Position #1 — Maintenance Controls/Mechanical Technician (In-Shop)

Location: Brighton, MI
Shift: 1st Shift | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Pay: $28–$36/hr (based on experience)

Position Summary: Direct Hire

Support machine shop operations with a strong focus on CNC controls, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment control systems and CNC machines
  • Read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and ladder logic
  • Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic repairs
  • Document repairs, PMs, and parts usage using CMMS
  • Identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions
  • Perform preventative maintenance and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Support continuous improvement and workplace safety initiatives

Qualifications

  • Experience with Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and Siemens controls
  • Knowledge of 120/208/480V systems
  • Machinery rigging, leveling, and alignment knowledge
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
  • Ability to work overtime as needed

Position #2 — Field Service Technician (CNC Woodworking Equipment)

Location: Brighton, MI (Travel Role)
Shift: 1st Shift | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Travel: Up to 80% domestic travel (company Sprinter van provided)
Pay: $25–$35/hr (based on experience)

About the Role: Evaluation to Hire

Join a growing service team supporting installation, commissioning, and repair of CNC woodworking machinery nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and commission CNC woodworking equipment
  • Support:
  • CNC machine centers (flat table, pod & rail, bore & insert)
  • Panel saws and edge banders
  • Provide customer training on new equipment
  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance
  • Calibrate and return machines to service
  • Complete detailed field service reports
  • Provide high-level customer technical support

Qualifications

  • 2+ years installing/maintaining CNC or industrial machinery
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication and customer-facing ability
  • Ability to travel nationally and lift up to 75 lbs
  • Experience with commissioning and customer training preferred

Position #3 — Controls Engineer / Hybrid CNC & Automation Maintenance Technician

Location: Webberville, MI
Shift: 1st or 2nd Shift
Pay: Up to $36/hr

Position Summary: Open to Evaluation or Direct Hire

Hands-on controls and automation role supporting PLC systems, robotics, and production equipment reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and program PLC & HMI systems
  • Siemens S7 / TIA Portal
  • Allen-Bradley ControlLogix & CompactLogix
  • Support Fanuc & ABB robotic systems
  • Modify automation programs to improve uptime and efficiency
  • Assist maintenance with root cause analysis and equipment failures
  • Maintain documentation for controls, schematics, and robotics
  • Support preventative maintenance and reliability initiatives

Qualifications

  • 3+ years industrial controls experience
  • PLC programming & troubleshooting (Siemens + Allen-Bradley)
  • Robotics experience (Fanuc and/or ABB)
  • Understanding of VFDs, sensors, safety circuits
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and ladder logic
  • Associate/Bachelor’s in Electrical/Automation OR equivalent experience
