Position Overview

The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing manufacturing costs, maintaining accurate cost records, and supporting financial decision-making within a production environment. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and hands-on experience with manufacturing accounting systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) and Max Exact Manufacturing Software is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, materials, overhead, and production variances.

• Maintain and update standard costs, BOMs, and routing information.

• Prepare cost reports, margin analysis, and financial summaries for management.

• Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile discrepancies.

• Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Work closely with production, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure accurate cost data.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-saving initiatives.

• Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost accounting records within ERP systems.

• Provide insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and profitability.

Required Qualifications

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) is preferred.

• Experience with Max Exact Manufacturing Software is preferred.

• Manufacturing accounting experience is required.

• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and standard costing.

• Proficiency in analyzing financial data and preparing detailed reports.

• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with numerical data.

• Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

• Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial information clearly.

Preferred Qualifications (Not Required)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• Experience in a high-volume or complex manufacturing environment.

• Knowledge of additional ERP or manufacturing systems.
