Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Apartment Maintenance Helper to join our property maintenance team in Benton Harbor, MI. This role supports the Maintenance Technician in ensuring apartment units and community areas are safe, clean, and well-maintained.

 

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance and repairs in apartment units and common areas
• Help complete work orders involving plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and basic carpentry
• Prepare vacant units for new residents (make-readies/turnovers)
• Perform groundskeeping duties such as trash pickup and exterior upkeep
• Maintain organization of maintenance shop and storage areas
• Respond professionally to resident maintenance requests
• Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks (snow removal, HVAC filter changes, etc.)
• Follow safety procedures and property policies at all times

 

Qualifications

• Maintenance or handyman experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of tools and repair processes
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
• Good communication and customer service skills
