Job Description

Express Employment Professionals is hiring a skilled Powder Coater for a metal fabrication and manufacturing environment. This is a full-time opportunity for an individual experienced in preparing metal surfaces, applying powder coatings, and maintaining high-quality finishing standards.

We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate who understands proper pre-treatment, coating techniques, and safety procedures in a production setting.

Responsibilities

As a Powder Coater, your responsibilities will include:

Cleaning and preparing metal surfaces by removing dirt, grease, rust, and old paint using solvents, sandblasting, or other approved methods.
Applying chemical pre-treatments such as phosphates to improve powder adhesion and corrosion resistance.
Operating electrostatic powder spray guns to apply coatings evenly to metal components.
Working inside a powder coating booth to control overspray and maintain a clean application environment.
Ensuring proper storage, handling, and mixing of powder materials to prevent contamination and minimize waste.
Inspecting finished products for uniformity, coverage, and defects (pinholes, bubbles, runs, uneven coating).
Troubleshooting coating defects or equipment malfunctions as needed.
Performing basic maintenance on powder coating equipment.
Following all safety guidelines when handling chemicals and operating machinery.
Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the coating area.

Requirements

Preferred 1–2 years of powder coating experience or related finishing experience in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
Ability to apply powder coating evenly and identify defects in coatings.
Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
Experience working with pre-treatment chemicals and surface preparation methods.
Basic mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting equipment issues.
Understanding of safety protocols related to chemical handling and industrial machinery.
Ability to work overtime as required.
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

Skills & Qualifications

Knowledge of electrostatic powder application techniques.
Surface preparation and chemical treatment experience.
Ability to spot and correct coating defects.
Familiarity with equipment maintenance and adjustment.
Strong safety awareness in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work independently and maintain production pace.

Shifts & Hours

Monday – Friday: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Saturday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Overtime required as needed

Pay & Benefits

$18.00 per hour
Weekly pay through Express Employment Professionals.
