Our agency is partnering with a well-established organization to recruit a Director, Procurement and Manufacturing in the Niagara Region. This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to lead procurement strategies while overseeing manufacturing and fabrication operations in a dynamic and growth-focused environment.
Overview
The Director, Procurement and Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing sourcing, purchasing, and contract negotiations, as well as managing day-to-day manufacturing operations including production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Supply Chain:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency
- Lead strategic and annual procurement planning aligned with business objectives
- Identify, evaluate, and manage supplier relationships
- Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms
- Oversee the full procurement lifecycle including sourcing, purchasing, logistics, and customs
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support operational needs
- Stay current on market trends, economic factors, and regulatory changes
- Lead, mentor, and develop the procurement team
Manufacturing & Operations:
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Oversee daily operations including production planning, scheduling, shipping/receiving, and facility maintenance
- Monitor production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, productivity, and profitability targets are achieved
- Implement and maintain quality control and continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead, hire, train, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team
- Collaborate with engineering, sales, and finance to align operations with forecasts and budgets
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and standards (e.g., ISO, ASME, CWB)
- Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in procurement, supply chain, and manufacturing
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Commerce, or a related field
- Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (e.g., CSCP, CPSM)
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and strategic decision-making skills
- Deep understanding of supply chain and manufacturing principles
- Proven leadership and people management experience
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Valid passport and willingness to travel as required
