Saw Operator – Steel Manufacturing 

Client seeking an experienced and dependable Saw Operator to join its steel manufacturing team. This position is responsible for operating industrial saw equipment to cut steel and metal materials accurately according to work orders, measurements, and production specifications.

Responsibilities

• Operate industrial band saws and other metal-cutting equipment

• Measure, mark, position, and cut steel and metal to specified lengths

• Read work orders, cut lists, and basic blueprints or drawings

• Accurately read a tape measure and other measuring instruments

• Load and unload steel stock and position material for cutting

• Set up saw equipment, including adjusting measurements, speeds, and stops as needed

• Inspect finished cuts for proper dimensions, quality, and accuracy

• Identify different sizes and types of steel material

• Monitor saw blades and equipment for wear or mechanical issues

• Perform basic preventative maintenance and blade changes as trained

• Use material-handling equipment such as overhead cranes or forklifts when authorized

• Keep the work area clean and organized

• Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE

Qualifications

• Previous metal saw, band saw, machine operator, fabrication, or steel manufacturing experience strongly preferred

• Experience working with steel, structural metal, or other heavy materials preferred

• Must be able to accurately read a tape measure

• Basic blueprint and work-order reading skills preferred

• Comfortable performing basic shop math, including fractions and decimals

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail

• Ability to safely handle heavy material in a manufacturing environment

• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical work throughout the shift

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in steel fabrication, structural steel, metal processing, welding/fabrication shops, band saw operation, overhead crane operation, or forklift operation are encouraged to apply.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and comfortable working with heavy steel in a fast-paced production environment. Accuracy is important, as each piece must be cut to the correct specifications before moving to the next stage of fabrication.

First shift 6a-3:30pm
