Assistant Pharmacist / Compounding Pharmacist

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 per year
Job Type: Full-Time | Onsite
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts (Rotating Saturdays)

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Pharmacist to support daily pharmacy operations in a compounding environment. This role focuses on staff oversight, regulatory compliance, and delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise pharmacy staff to ensure accurate dispensing and compounding of sterile and non-sterile medications

• Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and compliance prior to dispensing

• Conduct drug utilization reviews on all prescription orders

• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, USP standards (795, 797, 800), HIPAA, and SOPs

• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace

• Provide professional guidance to patients and prescribers regarding medication use, dosing, interactions, and storage

• Meet deadlines for prescription fulfillment, reporting, billing, and operational tasks

• Document and report quality-related events and support continuous improvement efforts

• Complete required continuing education and support team initiatives as needed

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program

• Active Massachusetts Pharmacist license in good standing

• 2+ years of pharmacy leadership experience; compounding experience preferred

• Knowledge of pharmacy regulations and compliance standards (USP 795, 797, 800)

• Strong leadership, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills

• Proficiency with pharmacy systems, order processing, and inventory software

• Strong pharmaceutical math skills

• Excellent communication, customer service, and teamwork abilities

• Reliable, adaptable, and able to stand for extended periods
