Production Manager – Job Description

Position Overview:
The Production Manager oversees the full production process to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, on time, and meet quality standards. This role coordinates people, equipment, and materials while driving continuous process improvements to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage daily production floor operations, staff, and equipment utilization.

• Lead, train, and motivate supervisors, leads, and shop workers; foster teamwork and accountability.

• Schedule labor and material flow according to production needs and reports.

• Monitor performance metrics (output, efficiency, downtime) and implement improvements.

• Ensure production of high-quality products on time to meet customer commitments.

• Establish production procedures, plans, and budgets to meet current and future needs.

• Conduct employee evaluations and recommend wage adjustments; coordinate disciplinary actions with HR.

• Oversee safety compliance and ensure proper use of safety equipment.

• Open production area 30 minutes before shifts and ensure proper shutdown at end of shifts.

Skills & Competencies

• Mechanical and technical aptitude; hand-eye coordination

• Familiarity with production equipment: rivet/epoxy guns, pneumatic/electric tools, presses, ovens, assembly lines, pallet jacks, test/measurement equipment

• Initiative: proactive planning and process improvement

• Dependable, cooperative, and able to foster a team approach

Education & Experience

• High school diploma (minimum)

• 2–4 years of manufacturing experience with supervisory responsibility, or equivalent experience in quality/production control
