Tool Room Attendant – Night Shift

Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour
Shift: 3:30 PM – 3:30 AM
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract

Position Summary

The Tool Room Attendant supports night-shift welding and fabrication operations by issuing, tracking, maintaining, and organizing tools and equipment. This role ensures welders and fitters have the correct tools available, minimizes downtime, and maintains accurate tool accountability throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Issue and receive hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and specialty tools

• Maintain accurate tool sign-out/sign-in and inventory records

• Inspect tools for damage, wear, or safety concerns and remove defective tools from service

• Clean, organize, and properly store tools throughout the shift

• Coordinate basic tool repairs, replacements, or reorders

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe tool room

• Communicate tool shortages, losses, or issues to the night shift supervisor

• Support welders and fitters by locating and staging required tools and consumables

• Follow all safety and shop procedures

Required Qualifications

• Prior experience in a tool room, welding shop, fabrication shop, or industrial environment

• Working knowledge of welding and fabrication tools (hand tools, power tools, grinders, welding equipment)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to maintain written or digital inventory logs

• Ability to work the required night shift schedule: 3:30 PM – 3:30 AM

• Reliable transportation to and from work

• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen

• Ability to complete required safety orientation prior to assignment

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, Sub-Arc)

• Experience in an industrial fabrication or manufacturing environment

• Basic mechanical aptitude

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

• Comfortable working in a noisy, hot, industrial shop environment
