Slitter Operator
Located in Grand Rapids, MI
Salary: $22-24/HR
Slitter Operator Job Summary: A steel company in Grand Rapids is seeking a Slitter to place steel rolls onto conveyor system, program machine to tolerance and operate machine to client specifications. Selected applicant will document processes, select product, complete inspection and final checks.
Slitter Operator Responsibilities:
- Set-up slitter heads to specified measurements
- Inspects for proper maintenance of slitter tools
- Operates machine to slit continuous lengths of steel into coils of specified width
- Use calipers to check set-ups
- Cut test samples
- Complete QA reports and other SPC data
- Follows all safety procedures
Schedule & Pay:
- 1st shift, 5AM- 310PM, Monday-Thursday; Overtime as required
- $22-24/hr
Slitter Operator Qualifications:
- Minimum one year steel experience preferred, 1-2 years manufacturing required
- Previous experience using micrometers and calipers
- Ability to lift 20 pounds repetitively
- Requires strong written and verbal skills and ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to calculate maximum load that can be lifted by crane
- Must have a demonstrated record of excellent attendance
- HS Diploma or GED required
- 1 year experience driving forklift and operating overhead crane required
