Express Employment Professionals of Denton County is seeking a CAD drafter for a local manufacturing company in Ponder, TX. The CAD Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed 2D and 3D drawings, models, and technical documentation for the design and production of shelters and related structural components. This role supports engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams by producing accurate, high-quality drawings that ensure product integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with company standards and industry regulations.

Schedule: 8a-5p M-F

Pay: $25/hr

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of shelters, components, and assemblies using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
• Develop and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs (Bills of Materials), fabrication files, and assembly documentation.
• Revise drawings based on engineering feedback, customer requirements, or regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and cost‑effective.
• Prepare layouts, schematics, structural details, weld symbols, and other technical documentation required for shelter fabrication.
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, industry standards, and internal quality guidelines.
• Maintain drawing libraries, templates, part files, and revision logs.
• Assist in developing new product designs, prototypes, or customer‑specific modifications.
• Provide technical support to the manufacturing floor, including clarifying design intent or producing supplemental sketches.
• Conduct dimensional checks and verify accuracy of designs prior to release.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in Drafting, CAD Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD design software.
• Strong understanding of mechanical drafting principles, structural components, and fabrication processes (welding, sheet metal, assembly).
• Ability to interpret and produce technical drawings, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with steel structures, aluminum framing, or manufacturing environments is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering, production, and sales teams.
