SUMMARY

Adhering to the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values, the Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the effective management and optimization of an on-premises Microsoft SQL Server environment. This role ensures the reliability, security, and performance of databases while supporting application upgrades and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances.

Administer SQL databases, including backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning.

Administer SQL users, roles, and permissions to enforce security and access controls.

Create, maintain, and monitor SQL Jobs to automate recurring tasks.

Review and execute vendor-provided SQL scripts included in software releases.

Refresh test environments with production data to validate upgrades and support application testing.

Monitor performance using enterprise-grade diagnostic tools and implement efficiency improvements.

Document schemas, processes, and replication configurations to ensure consistency and reliability.

Administer and troubleshoot SQL replication between systems.

Develop a deep understanding of application data models, relationships, and workflows.

Identify where data resides across systems and how it flows between applications.

Query and analyze data to troubleshoot issues and resolve anomalies.

Collaborate with business units to resolve data issues and ensure data integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and replication.

Strong SQL query, stored procedure, and schema design skills.

Experience with SQL Jobs, SSRS, and SSIS.

Ability to understand and document application data models.

Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

Professional certifications in SQL Server or database administration preferred.

Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on SQL Server administration experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and end users.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License to operate an employer-provided vehicle or transport equipment between work locations as required.
