Assistant Production Manager (Day Shift)
Location: Sunnyvale TX
Pay: $40,000+ (negotiable based on experience)
Shift: 7 am to 3:30 pm; Mon-Fri
Job Type: Temp to Permanent
Position Summary
The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager and Production Foremen in coordinating, directing, and supervising production operations. This role is responsible for managing shift employees, ensuring work quality, enforcing safety standards, and maintaining efficient workflow across fabrication and assembly operations. Ideal candidates will bring strong leadership experience, mechanical aptitude, and a background in heavy structural weldments or construction industry equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Workflow Management
- Follow direction from the Production Manager or Production Foremen to schedule work and manage daily assignments.
- Supervise, instruct, discipline, and train team members on assigned shifts.
- Assign work tasks and ensure proper resource allocation across shift employees.
- Communicate production objectives clearly and monitor team performance against goals.
- Maintain consistent communication between shifts to ensure smooth operations.
Technical & Quality Duties
- Read and interpret blueprints, job worksheets, verbal instructions, and other production documents.
- Oversee quality control activities and ensure that production work meets documented quality standards.
- Complete quality documentation using established quality control sheets and visual inspections.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce company safety rules and procedures across all assigned crew members.
- Ensure safe work habits and compliance with operational standards.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate time reporting for all team members on assigned crews.
- Assist with reporting and documentation as needed for production metrics.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in fabrication, assembly of heavy structural weldments, and/or construction industry equipment manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Basic computer skills (email, time reporting, basic data entry).
- Stable work history with verifiable references.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Manufacturing experience or certifications.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with heavy equipment, structural steel, or related industries.
