Our client is seeking a Director of Materials Management!

 

Essential Functions:

• Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize materials management processes and procedures.
• Oversee the sourcing and procurement of materials, ensuring the best quality and pricing are obtained.
• Manage inventory control systems to optimize stock levels, minimize waste and avoid stock outs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate demand forecasting and timely delivery of materials.
• Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, negotiating contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms.
• Implement and maintain efficient distribution channels to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of materials.
• Prepare and analyze reports on material management metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards including safety and environmental guidelines.

 

Supervision of Staff:

• Lead and develop a team of material management professionals, providing coaching and guidance to drive continuous improvement.
• Hire and train departmental employees.
• Organizes, directs, and oversees the schedules and work material management associates.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proven supervisory and leadership experience in a similar role.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Deep knowledge of supply chain management principles, including procurement, sourcing, inventory control and distribution.
• Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, logistics or related field.
• Proficiency in using material management software and ERP systems.
• Professional certifications relating to materials and supply chain management.
• At least five years of supervisory experience is highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
• Visual acuity to inspect products and machinery.
