Are you looking to start a career in the fire and life safety industry?

We are hiring a Fire Alarm Helper for a growing fire protection company. This is an entry-level trainee position designed for individuals who want to learn the mechanics of fire alarm systems while working directly under the guidance of experienced Fire Alarm Technicians.

In this role, you will assist with routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems. You will help diagnose system issues, support troubleshooting efforts, and assist with installing and testing fire alarm systems under close supervision. You will receive daily direction and training from a Fire Alarm Technician and gain hands-on experience in real-world job sites.


Essential Functions

  • Assist technicians with inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems

  • Support troubleshooting and diagnosis of system issues during service calls

  • Help install and test fire alarm systems under technician supervision

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and multi-meters safely and effectively

  • Provide detailed daily notes and updates on work orders

  • Read and follow fire alarm prints and installation plans

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment

  • Work in challenging physical conditions such as ladders, lifts, crawl spaces, ducts, and above ceilings

  • Be available for after-hours, overtime, and weekend work as needed


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and multi-meters (REQUIRED)

  • Ability to follow instructions and learn technical systems

  • Strong communication and documentation skills

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety

  • Reliable, dependable, and team-oriented mindset

  • Willingness to work in physical and sometimes confined environments


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Ability to pass a DBIDS background application to gain access to military projects


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding and work at heights

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment and tools

  • Ability to work in crawl spaces, ducts, and above ceilings

  • Stamina to stand, bend, and move for extended periods
