The primary role of a Packaging and Crating Associate is to be responsible for packaging and crating finished door products to ensure they are safely transported to customers. This role involves building custom crates, wrapping, labeling, and preparing doors for shipment while working closely with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure products are properly protected and shipped in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Build custom crates and containers tailored to the size and shape of finished door products.
Package and protect products using appropriate materials such as foam, shrink wrap, corner protectors, and strapping.
Label packaged products accurately with shipping and handling information.
Ensure all items are crated and packaged according to customer specifications and company standards.
Inspect finished goods for quality and damage before packaging.
Coordinate with production, warehouse, and logistics teams to meet daily shipping schedules.
Maintain a clean and safe work area while adhering to company safety protocols.
Operate basic packaging tools and equipment, including nail guns, staplers, and strapping machines.
Skills and Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in packaging or shipping are a plus.
2+ years of experience in packaging, crating (including crate building), or shipping, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with packaging materials, crate construction techniques, and shipping procedures.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools (e.g., saws, nail guns, drills) and packaging equipment.
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.)
Good communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the door manufacturing or construction materials industry.
Forklift or other material handling equipment certification is a plus.
Familiarity with inventory management and shipping systems.
Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and procedures in packaging and crating operations.
