Maintenance Worker

The ideal candidate will have experience in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other general handyman skills. This role is essential in ensuring our apartments remain safe, clean, and functional for tenants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on apartment units, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and appliance work.

Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and respond promptly to service requests.

Troubleshoot and repair minor HVAC systems and water heaters.

Assist with apartment turnovers, including cleaning, painting, and repairs to prepare units for new tenants.

Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

Ensure compliance with safety standards and housing authority policies.

Respond to emergency maintenance calls as needed (may require after-hours availability).

Work collaboratively with other maintenance staff, property managers, and outside vendors.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance or related field.

Working knowledge of basic electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.

Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Ability to pass a background check.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work.

Experience in residential housing maintenance or property management environments.

Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Frequent walking, standing, bending, and climbing ladders.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
