Job Title: Cost Accountant (Part-Time)

Location: Longview, TX
Schedule: Part-Time | 20–30 hours per week

 

Job Summary

The Cost Accountant is responsible for reducing financial waste and increasing company profitability through detailed cost analysis and reporting. This role focuses on determining actual production costs, analyzing expenses, evaluating profitability, and assisting with budgeting activities. The Cost Accountant will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and remain committed to continuous improvement and quality standards.

 

Job Responsibilities & Tasks

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare, analyze, and report weekly, monthly, and quarterly gross margin analysis by brand and customer type
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries
• Analyze inventory valuation and prepare inventory roll-forwards
• Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories
• Prepare detailed account analyses and reconcile sales, cost, inventory, and liability accounts
• Ensure timely, accurate submission of inventory and gross margin schedules to management
• Coordinate with IT regarding system issues, maintenance, and development related to production, purchasing, receiving, shipping, and other operational areas
• Continuously analyze expenses, revenue, and inventory counts to identify opportunities for improvement
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and quality system requirements

Required Qualifications & Competencies

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of accounting software and computer systems
• Experience with journal entries, data entry, and cost-related recordkeeping

Skills

• Ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
