Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to support maintenance and repair operations for heavy machinery used in construction and excavation projects. This position involves working both in a shop environment and in the field to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and fully operational.
Position Details:
• Type: Full-Time
• Schedule: Day Shift (with field response as needed)
• Location: Shop and Field-Based
• Pay/Salary: $25-$35/hr
Job Duties:
In the Shop:
• Perform routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Repair and overhaul engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and related components.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately identify issues.
• Maintain detailed service and repair records for all equipment.
• Coordinate with management to order parts and maintain inventory.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
In the Field:
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns at job sites to minimize downtime.
• Diagnose and repair equipment under field conditions.
• Conduct field inspections and recommend preventive maintenance.
• Communicate with equipment operators to assess performance concerns.
• Provide guidance on proper equipment operation and basic maintenance.
• Maintain a fully stocked and organized service truck with required tools and parts.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics preferred.
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment diesel mechanic, preferably in construction or excavation.
• Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostic skills.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, software, and service equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.
• Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment maintenance.
• Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred) with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
