Job Summary:

The Custodial Leadis responsible for overseeing the custodial staff and ensuring the cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance of all assigned facilities. This role involves scheduling, training, and managing custodial staff, inspecting work areas, and coordinating with other departments to ensure a safe and clean environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervision and Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the custodial staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Assign and schedule work shifts, ensuring adequate coverage at all times.
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to ensure cleanliness and adherence to safety standards.
  • Train new custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, safety procedures, and use of equipment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of custodial staff, providing feedback and conducting performance reviews.

• Maintenance and Operations:

  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are maintained and in good working order.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff to address any facility repairs or issues promptly.
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, placing orders as needed to avoid shortages.
  • Develop and implement custodial procedures and policies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

• Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Conduct regular safety training sessions for custodial staff.
  • Respond to and resolve any safety or security issues that arise within the facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and maintenance activities.

• Customer Service and Communication:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for custodial-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure custodial services meet their needs.
  • Address and resolve complaints or issues related to custodial services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare and present reports on custodial activities and performance to management.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in management or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of custodial or janitorial experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.

• Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of cleaning procedures, products, and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Working Conditions:

• Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand for long periods, and perform physical tasks.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment noise.
