Salary: $19-$32/Hr.
As a Field Technician specializing in concrete testing, you will be responsible for performing quality control testing on freshly placed concrete for transportation infrastructure projects, including highways, roads, bridges, and related structures. You will work outdoors at active construction sites, ensuring that concrete meets project specifications, industry standards, and applicable contract requirements.
Perform standardized field tests on freshly mixed concrete, including slump, temperature, air content, and other ASTM/AASHTO methods used to assess concrete quality and compliance.
Collect representative concrete samples during pours and prepare test specimens (e.g., cylinders) for strength evaluation.
Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all test results and site conditions in accordance with project specifications and quality control programs.
Transport concrete specimens to designated labs when required and ensure proper handling and storage procedures.
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and laboratory personnel regarding testing activities and results.
Adhere to all safety standards, maintain daily reports, and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company-provided vehicle to varied job sites.
Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately record and report data.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and around active construction equipment.
Ability to lift and carry testing equipment, concrete specimens, and tools as required.
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician — Grade I certification or willingness to obtain.
Prior experience with concrete testing and construction materials quality control.
Familiarity with FDOT specifications and Construction Training and Qualification Program (CTQP) procedures.
Work predominantly in the field at construction sites; exposure to noise, vibration, and varying ground conditions.
Requires standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors for extended periods.
Hourly wage between $19.00 and $32.00, commensurate with experience and certifications.
Company vehicle provided for travel to job sites.
