Tax Manager

Tax Manager 

Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join their team in a direct hire capacity. This role oversees tax engagements, leads teams, supports firm growth, and plays a key role in client relationships and staff development.

Location: Columbus, OH
Salary: $100,000 – $140,000 (based on experience) - Direct Hire 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of tax engagements including planning, preparation, and review of corporate, partnership, trust, and individual tax returns

• Prepare and review complex tax returns and perform tax research and planning

• Supervise, mentor, and develop seniors, staff, and interns

• Ensure all workpapers and tax filings are accurate and complete prior to submission

• Communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to clients and firm leadership

• Monitor engagement budgets, timelines, and billing to ensure profitability

• Lead client meetings, prepare executive-level summaries, and deliver presentations

• Identify client risks and provide strategic tax and financial improvement recommendations

• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and improve processes

• Support firm growth by identifying new business opportunities and participating in professional networking activities

• Promote a positive, professional team culture and support internal policies and development initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field

• Active CPA license required

• 5–7 years of public accounting tax experience

• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations

• Proficiency with tax preparation and tax research software

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Proven leadership and team development experience

• Reliable transportation for occasional on-site client visits

• Ability to work evenings and weekends during peak tax seasons
