Position Summary
Customer Service Specialist performs administrative and public-facing duties, including processing exemption applications, assisting taxpayers with questions, reviewing documentation, updating records, and supporting essential property assessment functions. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities

Provide front-line assistance to customers regarding exemption qualifications and general inquiries.

Process and verify applications for homestead and other property exemptions.

Research property records and resolve questions related to exemption eligibility.

Prepare documentation such as the Declaration of Mobile Home as Real Property (DR-402).

Support exemption data review during the TRIM process.

Work closely with internal departments to ensure accurate “Save Our Homes” cap application.

Update and correct tax roll information when exemptions are added or removed.

Communicate with various government entities to verify residency and compliance.

Assist the public in navigating online property search tools.

Investigate potential homestead non-compliance and present findings for review.
Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum 1 year of customer service experience.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-volume environment.

Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual a plus.

Ability to research, analyze, and interpret exemption-related information.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.

Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Florida Notary Commission required (or ability to obtain).

Knowledge of Florida Statutes and exemption laws preferred.
