Job Title: Flux Core Welder
Job Summary:
The Flux Core Welder is responsible for setting up and welding metal components such as pipe, flanges, extensions, and plates using flux core welding techniques. This role includes identifying and repairing defects in welded pipe and other assemblies while adhering to all safety procedures and promoting continuous safety improvements. This role is in the Shop Road area pay ranging from $20-$28hr
Key Responsibilities:
Set up and operate flux core welding machines to fabricate metal products and assemblies.
Strike (form) the arc and manually guide the electrode or gun along the weld line, maintaining proper arc length and travel speed to achieve the correct bead and fusion.
Weld in flat, horizontal, and vertical positions according to specifications and procedures.
Inspect welds for bead size, surface finish, and compliance with drawings, weld procedures, and quality standards.
Prepare workpieces by cleaning, degreasing, grinding, or preheating as needed.
Remove excess weld, slag, and spatter to ensure a clean finished product.
Position and clamp workpieces or assemble them in jigs or fixtures.
Tack assemblies together as required for fabrication.
Identify areas of pipe or assemblies requiring repair through visual inspection or markings from inspectors.
Position pipe or assemblies on repair racks and perform all necessary preparatory work.
Maintain strict compliance with all company and OSHA safety rules.
Successfully complete annual weld tests and maintain required certification standards.
Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-training and general housekeeping.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work a 1st Shift schedule.
Physically able to perform essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, pipe drawings, and weld procedures.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Effective communication skills with supervisors and team members.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to accurately use a tape measure.
Ability to follow instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
Problem-solving skills for standardized welding and fabrication tasks.
Ability to use company computer systems to review dispatch lists and understand required actions.
Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints and weld procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
AWS Certification preferred.
Essential Physical Functions:
Regularly required to sit or stand; use hands; walk; stoop; kneel; crouch; or crawl.
Occasionally required to reach, climb, or balance.
Frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift/move up to 75 pounds.
Must pass vision test (20/30 with or without corrective lenses) every 2 years; corrective lenses must be worn if required during work.
