The Line Maintenance Technician's responsibility is to perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic repair and preventive maintenance on all plant equipment and structure of the facility.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
- Observes all OSHA and facility safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment. Example: Lock-out/Tag-out, Arc-Flash, Hot Work, Fall Protection, etc.
- Follows all established Good Manufacturing Practices, including maintaining an orderly and clean work area. These are intense food manufacturing/food safety programs that are not flexible.
- Troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical and electrical failures. Example: large horizontal mixers, planetary mixers, dough sheeting lines, proofers, fryers, spiral freezers, various conveyors, and packing equipment.
- Assures preventive maintenance program is conducted on all plant equipment. Work orders are completed using SAP-based CMMS. Candidates must be comfortable using a computer/tablet documenting their work. This type of work requires a high attention to detail and the ability to look beyond the basic task list on the work order; and the ability to recognize and correct a mechanical or electrical issue before it becomes a problem.
- Provides emergency unscheduled repairs of production equipment using mechanical and electrical skills/experience to execute repairs in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Perform welding, cutting, and soldering using electric and gas equipment. MIG and TIG welding experience on mild and stainless steel is desired.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service using existing documentation to execute repairs. This would include hard wire and PLC electrical drawings and mechanical blueprints.
