We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our clients innovative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and improving mechanical systems and components. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in steel manufacturing and system design, utilizing advanced CAD tools and programming skills. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate across departments to develop efficient solutions that meet quality standards and project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a range of technical capabilities with the experience of Mechanical Engineering and design, development of project documents including (bill of materials, calculations, owners’ manual, analysis reports, drawings, specifications, startup and commissioning instructions, maintenance instructions, spare parts list, etc.).
- Conduct detailed analysis of current and new products using analytical methods, in-house design tools/software and other commercial software.
- Conduct necessary background research, modeling, analysis and testing of various design options in support of new technology development and new product development projects.
- Actively engage with vendors of various components and sub-systems to successfully develop new technology, components and product through active collaboration, specification, review, testing, evaluation, and analysis.
- Estimating the product solution, and all other engineering activities from concept through product launch as well as take part in cost improvement and product maintenance activities and more.
- Create reports and presentations on technology, product and project activities periodically and as required.
- Perform in accordance with the quality, environmental, safety and any other requirements, in accordance with the scope, within the agreed timescales and budgeted costs, in accordance with Company's quality, environmental, safety and any other standards and procedures as well as with all applicable legal requirements.
- Hands on design – (produce and review reports, analyses, specifications, calculations, drawings, plans, etc.)..
- Deliver assigned tasks in accordance with the requirements and scope, within the agreed timescales and budgeted costs, in accordance with Company's quality standards and procedures and all applicable legal requirements.
- Work with junior engineers and act as a validator to attest to the competencies of the candidate engineer during their progress in applying for licensure with the Professional Engineers Ontario.
Requirements
- Licensed or Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario complete with PEO’s mandatory continuing professional development program, administered through the Practice Evaluation and Knowledge (PEAK) program.
- Post-Secondary Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience.
- 5 years direct work experience in Mechanical Engineering specifically related to HVAC equipment.
- Experience in HVAC design projects.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of applicable standard and codes such as Building codes, ASHRAE, OSHA and other applicable standards and codes related to the company product line.
- Must be hands on and have experience in working in HVAC preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability in designing experiments, interpreting experimental data, conducting analysis, drawing conclusions and preparing summary reports.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, and regulations.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in all business-related software packages (e.g. MS Office), as well as experience with specific applications and programs related to design engineering (i.e., AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc)
- Working knowledge of project management, materials, manufacturing processes and business processes
- Working knowledge of new product and technology development processes
- Knowledge of electrical/controls an asset (sequence of operation, diagrams, code)
- Has a valid and current driver’s license.
- Has a valid and current passport.
