Job Summary

Express Employment Professionals is seeking a results-driven Production Manager to lead and develop a multidisciplinary manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in modern machining and manufacturing processes, combined with strong leadership capabilities to drive accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

The Production Manager will oversee CNC machinists, welders, winders, and mechanical technicians, ensuring productivity, safety, and quality in daily operations while cultivating a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary production team, including machinists, welders, winders, and mechanical technicians.
  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery, cost control, and resource efficiency.
  • Oversee operations across CNC machining, welding, winding, and mechanical assembly.
  • Ensure all shop-floor equipment, including CNC machines, is properly operated, maintained, and optimized.
  • Apply modern manufacturing techniques (Lean, 5S, Six Sigma) to drive continuous improvement and reduce waste.
  • Monitor and use KPIs, production metrics, and data analytics to guide decision-making and eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and maintenance departments to improve product manufacturability and resolve technical issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, teamwork, and continuous development.
  • Lead employee training, cross-training, and compliance with safety and quality standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production management with direct leadership over multidisciplinary manufacturing teams.
  • In-depth, hands-on knowledge of:
  • CNC machining (milling, turning, multi-axis)
  • Welding processes
  • Mechanical assembly
  • Winding operations
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, manufacturing best practices, quality systems, and OSHA safety compliance.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and production planning tools.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a custom or high-mix/low-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or formal continuous improvement training.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Background in electrical winding or rotating equipment manufacturing is a strong plus.

CNC machines, welding equipment, winding machines, forklifts, hoists, pallet jacks, genie booms, respirators, computers, ERP systems, and standard hand and power tools.
